Station Committees

Want to learn more about the inner workings of CJAM-FM? In addition to recruiting new shows for our broadcast schedule, we’re also looking for assistance in the following committees; these groups are a great way for new volunteers to experience the station in action, connect to the community and much more! Read on for further details!

GRAVEYARD GUYS AND GHOULS

Attention all night owls, insomniacs and vampires!

The Graveyard Guys and Ghouls is a group at CJAM that allows new or experienced volunteers to fill-in during our vacant late night shifts. The station currently relies heavily on pre-recorded mixes and we want to make CJAM live and interactive for our listeners 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Here are some of the benefits of joining Graveyard Guys and Ghouls Collective:

- You’ll get on-air experience without the weekly obligation of having a regular timeslot.
- No Canadian content quotas to achieve!
- Our free-form block programming format allows you to play whatever genre (or genres) you want!
- The opportunity to feel more comfortable with your broadcasting skills, knowing that a smaller audience is tuned in.
- A chance to let loose and have fun in the studio after hours!

THE LOVE IT OR HATE IT COMMITTEE

CJAM wants YOU to join the review panel that has more opinions than Simon Cowell – the Love It or Hate It Committee!

Come help our Music Director, Chris White, review new music for our on-air music library here at the station! Think it’s as easy as adding the new Animal Collective or Vampire Weekend? Come on by and judge for yourself!

Here are the benefits of exercising your music snobbery:

- Be the first to hear new music at CJAM!
- Get first dibs on rejected music!
- Expand your knowledge by reviewing genres that are outside your area of expertise.
- Spend quality time with the lovely and savvy Chris White!
- Discover the criteria CJAM uses to accept or reject music.
- Learn about the different independent record labels that CJAM relies on for servicing.

THE WOMEN’S RADIO COLLECTIVE

Ever get that not-so-fresh Feminist feeling?

Join CJAM’s Estrogen Collective today! It was created for women, by women, so that they could learn and develop valuable technical skills in a safe space, empowering them to produce their own alternative media.

The Estrogen Collective is always looking for new members. If you’re a feminist who cares about gender equality in the media and other women’s issues, we want you!

Here are some of the benefits of being involved:

- The opportunity to host or co-host Milk & Vodka, our free-form music program.
- Co-host Genesis our spoken word show dedicated to dissecting the world of pop culture!
- Get involved with events and happenings in and around the feminist community while networking with other like-minded thinkers from CJAM, and the Windsor-Detroit region!
- Being able to speak your mind in a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Discovering new female artists which will broaden your musical horizons!

THE JAM SQUAD

Are you a social butterfly?

Do you enjoy gushing about how great CJAM is? Do you like going to outings, gatherings and shin-digs around town? Join the Jam Squad today! We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly, fun and feel that they embody the philosophy of the station.

Here are the benefits of becoming a Jam Squad member:

- You’ll become an official spokesperson for CJAM-FM.
- You’ll hang out at shows, cultural happenings and other events around Windsor, for FREE, to promote for us!
- You’ll get to hand out swag and talk to people directly about CJAM’s unique programming and the impact we’re making in the community.
- You’ll help the station recruit new listeners and potential volunteers.

FUNKY FRESH FILL-INS

Do you like helping out your fellow Jammers in, well…a jam?

Sometimes our regular volunteers can’t make it in to program their shows due to appointments, exams, or conflicting work schedules.  That’s where a fill-in host comes to the rescue!

Here are the benefits of becoming part of the triple f squad:

- You’ll receive first notice about shows that are available for fill-ins.
- You’ll be part of the elite and reliable team that CJAM depends on for consistent programming.
- Like zombie hunters, you will kill dead air!
- You’ll gain even greater radio experience and become more comfortable as an on-air personality.

INTERESTED?

Apply to become a volunteer today by e-mailing our Program Director, Cassandra Caverhill, at progcjam@uwindsor.ca if any of these groups pique your interest!
